re: Intramural Tournament!

Hey y'all!

I'm putting together a small (~30) person PvP tournament, inviting exclusively friends of <Silent Council>. It'll be September 14th. Details follow. Let me know if you're interested in participating, refereeing, gambling or watching! It would be awesome to see a bunch of your guise there. :D

--------------

Lord Baron Sammoj Kresh Offers an Intramural Hastilude, Grand Melee, and Tourney!

In honor of his sixty-fifth birthday, Lord Baron Sammoj Kresh invites men and women of arms to shed blood on the sands of Tattooine! The Tourney will contain three separate events, and gladiators are invited to participate in as many events as they choose.

Judges, Referees, and Impartial Helpers of all sorts are requested! Please contact Sammoj!

A starting time has not been set. A date of Saturday, September 14 has been tentatively set.

--

GENERAL RULES:

The Tournament will take place entirely in the Outlaw’s Den on Tattooine.
Participants must be members of <Silent Council> or be sponsored by a member. (Don't worry, I'll sponsor anyone from Bane...:D)
Participants must drop their guild tag for the duration of the Tournament.
We ask spectators to be respectful, as always, and not interfere in any way with the action. Spectators interfering with the action will be removed.
Participants will follow the rules or they will be removed and yelled at. Rules violations are an automatic forfeit of entry fee.
Stims of any sort are allowed.
Buffs of any sort are allowed.
Grenades of any sort are allowed.
Medpacs of any sort are allowed.
Gear of any sort is allowed.
Donations to the prize pool will be warmly accepted.

--

BETTING POOL:

The following sanctioned betting pools will be available to contestants and spectators alike. Multiple entry per pot are allowed.

Last Man Standing:
Pot 1: 25k per entry
All those correctly predicting the winner of the Last Man Standing event will receive an even share of pot 1, minus vig.

Pot 2: 10k per entry
All those correctly predicting the total number of rounds of the Last Man Standing event will receive an even share of pot 2, minus vig.

Blood Challenge:
Pot 1: 25k per entry
All those correctly predicting the Blood Challenge champion will receive an even share of pot 1, minus vig.

Pot 2: 10k per entry
All those correctly predicting the first runner up will receive an even share of pot 2, minus vig.

Grand Melee:
Pot 1: 50k per entry
All those correctly predicting the winning team will receive an even share of pot 1, minus vig.

Other betting pools for any event will be considered.

--

EVENT 1: LAST MAN STANDING

Entry: 50k

Prize: entry pot minus vig

This event will be hosted in the North Eastern corner of the Outlaw’s Den.

The last man standing is the winner.

Contestants may not be grouped with anyone. Cooperation is inevitable, but nobody involved in the fight may actually be grouped with one another.

There will be an indefinite number of rounds. The rounds get longer each time by 1 minute, starting from 1 minute for the first round. If you die in the duration of a round, you are not immediately eliminated - just down and out for the rest of the round. You are eliminated after 3 deaths in total.

Time between rounds will be short - under 2 minutes - so if you die and rez out (which you shouldn't do) please run back as soon as possible. You will be credited for a death if it takes too long to return to the pit and we've started the next round without you.

To start each round, contestants will stand at the southern edge of the pit and jump down when the countdown is finished. All contestants must be visible until the fight is started (stealthers can use stealth, but only after they enter the pit). Everybody must be out of combat until they enter the pit; therefore abilities that put other players in combat cannot be used until entering the pit. Doing so will credit you with a death immediately.

All fighting must take place in the pit. Anybody who leaves the pit (including standing on the stairs) will be credited for a death immediately. If players are knocked or pushed out of the pit they can jump back in immediately, but this is ultimately up to our discretion.

DCs and other legitimate, non-combat reasons for dying during the fight will still be considered deaths.

After round 3, our impartial judges will heighten the action by activating ground targeted AoEs. These may include orbital strikes and stealth scans, for example. Spectators are should not interfere with the action.

The last contestant left alive in the pit in the final round (the round when everybody but the winner has died 3 times) wins the tournament.

--

EVENT 2: BLOOD CHALLENGE!

Entry: 50k

Prizes:
Winner: 75% entry pot minus vig
1st Runner up: 25% entry pot minus vig
2nd Runner up: Special prize!

This event begins approximately 15 minutes after the Last Man Standing Event and will be held in the pit.

The Blood Challenge will be double-elimination style and the bracket will be available before the tournament begins.

Initial seedings will be assigned randomly.

The final round will be best of 3.

Duels will be limited to 5 minutes from the initiation of combat (no limit on the final round). If after 5 minutes, if neither participant has died, the pair will have a second 5 minute duel.

If at the end of the second 5 minutes neither player has killed the other, they will /roll to determine who advances.

Participants will be required to group with a referee during their duel.

--

EVENT 3: GRAND MELEE

Entry: 50k

Prizes: 100% of entry fees distributed evenly among winning team, minus vig.

This is the final event of the Tournament and will take place 15 minutes following the Blood Challenge.

All participants will be divided into four teams by random seed. Teams will form ops groups.

The composition of the ops groups will not be revealed until the tournament begins.

Each team will begin in one corner of the Outlaw’s Den at the direction of judge.

The team with the last surviving member is the winner.

Any player who has not engaged in combat within one minute of the beginning of the round is disqualified.

After 10 minutes, if there is no clear winner, the judges may declare the combat a draw and initiate sudden death. Under these circumstances, the first player to reach the GTN console in the Outlaw’s Den will be declared the winner.

I'm going to be out of town for the next month or so, so I may not be able to attend. But this sounds like a really cool event and I'll see if I can find a way to attend.

Awesome! At the very least, I'm going to try to get all our referees to use FRAPS and put together some highlight videos, so if you miss it you can see it all on instant replay. :D
